Weight/Strength training for beginners?! Help

Hi All,
I'm new to the MFP community, but looking for some advice. I've recently lost about 30lbs through a mix of diet and football training, but i'm thinking that I would like to try out some strength training to mix it up.
Any suggestions where I should start? I'd like to tighten up my arm skin / muscles and lose tummy fat!
Thanks in advance
Extra info: 29f, 5 ft 9, 150lbs

When you say football, do you mean American football or soccer?
I have an American football training field near me. That field has various size tractor tires and sleds. You can get some hefty training in with just those two items.
I play tennis. And strength training helped give me more power for my matches. Tennis has a lot of plyometric movements as does football so you can train power while playing. So in-season training may have more focus on the court/field than off-season training (in the weight room). Strong Lifts 5x5 training can be the best and quickest way to gain a powerful strength base during the off-season. I played leisurely weekend games of tennis while running SL during the week and gained a quick strength base that improved my game.0 -

Sorry I meant soccer (football here in the UK), we're about to finish our season and i'll have roughly 2 months in the off season so good time to start something new!
