Ive had kinda a rough week of some kinda stomach bug or something, but basically I had two days spent entirely in bed with nausea and two days trying to eat more normally. Its just been weird and thrown off my workout schedule...only 3 times this week counting today. Yesterday I decided to make my serious commitments to change a reality and cut out processed foods, soda, booze etc and actually give it a real try, for at least 17 days (also reading the 17 day diet, and while I do not plan to follow it exactly, I am using it for some of the ideas in it and for some guidance and motivation) So I have been sticking to my reduced calorie limit (and not really planning to eat exercise calories...I know there is much debate about this, I am not here for a lecture or a debate with anyone, after spending almost a year on MFP trust me I have read a lot.) But cutting down carbs and processed food has been really tough these past two days, my mood has been TERRIBLE. Seriously. Im like a crazy you-know-what which is unpleasant to those around me. I hope this is kinda a detox phase, that as my body settles into a new way of clean eating I will be able to regulate my mood...anyone with any experience such as this? I have 15 pounds to go....which feels like a mountain to climb, and Im feeling grumpy and discouraged, and as a person known to binge I am just doing my best to avoid that. Would greatly appreciate any encouraging words :) You guys ROCK!

Maybe you are trying to give up too much all at once. Stick with a few things, like say soda and alcohol for a week, then add something else and something else.. and so on. You decide the order. Make a list of the things you want to eliminate from your diet and prioritize it, then start crossing them off. Won't be so traumatic and you will be moving towards your goal...

Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

I'm sorry you've been down. I've heard there is a carb detox phase.

I also hear you've been sick. What if you focused on just maintaining for a week or so, more... IOW, walking and eating a few more calories, until you are well?

Just a thought-- give yourself a break :)

    Best,

    Debbie
