Click "My Home" in the upper blue bar near the top of the page.
Click "Goals" in the lower blue bar near the top of that page.
Click "Edit" in the top left box labeled "Daily Nutrition Goals".
Adjust the values to your liking and click "Save Changes".

My question is why do you thing your calories are set too high? MFP should have done it for you.0

The recommended minimum number of calories to lose weight in a healthy way is 1200 per day for women; that is as low as MFP will calculate for you regardless of how much you need to lose.1

Great question!
Setting the calories lower than MFP has suggested isn't a good idea and you can't go lower than 1200 for a woman or 1500 for a man, in any event. You should not be trying to lose more than 1% of your body weight every week or there are health consequences.1
