Hi
I am fifty years old and at my heaviest weighed 107kg. Over the years I have managed to get down to 88kg and maintained that for a while. My most recent effort has seen me drop to 79kg. My problem is that I can be really good for weeks or months, but then I am really really bad.
I am hoping to find people in my general age group for support, and hope that this will make the difference. I live in a remote area of Victoria in Australia so do not have access to a gym. I tend to keep my carbs low, but not too low 50-75g per day) as I don't want to restrict vegetables.
Thanks for listening
Cathy

Don't try to "be good", that is what makes us go "really bad". Just eat to feel good. Log accurately and consistently and notice how different foods impacts your mood, satiety and energy levels. Aim to eat more of what makes you feel good and less of what makes you feel bad. Plan a balanced diet of foods you like. Don't focus on single foods or nutrients, you are driving yourself crazy; instead make sure you eat enough of everything but not too much of anything.
You don't have to exercise to lose or maintain weight, and you don't need a gym to exercise. Just living burns the most calories for most people, while everyday activity takes second place; calorie burns from exercise doesn't have a great impact unless you are an athlete.
I'm 46 years old and live in a remote area too, but in the opposite direction (Norway).2 -
Thank you for your advice. I tend to get quite obsessive when I'm trying to lower my blood sugar I was diagnosed with diabetes about fifteen years ago and have managed to stay off medication so far. But you are absolutely right about moderation - apart from anything with flour in it because that sends my sugar levels soaring!0
