Mid back pain in deep ketosis

Hi everyone,
I've been in deep ketosis for about 2 weeks (average about 10g carbs per day) Yesterday I started getting pain in my mid back kind of where the bra strap would be. I thought maybe I'd sat or slept funny but it's still there this morning and doesn't feel like normal back pain. Anyone have any clues if this could be related to diet?
Thanks!

This is strictly based on my anecdotal experience but is it possible you have gallstones? I developed them after rapidly losing 60lbs and then, after gaining it back, I went on LCHF diet and started noticing pains there occasionally and then eventually I started getting full blown gall bladder attacks.

The high fat exacerbated the issue because when you are digesting fatty foods, your gall bladder contracts to release bile. When you have gall stones, sometimes they'll shift around and during contraction, can cause pain ranging from mild to severe.

I'm not a doctor or anything so obviously this is just a guess.

Edited because spelling and grammar are hard.

If you have back pain that's lasted for longer than a week you need to go to the doctor. If it's causing you real pain go sooner. But expect a telling off!
10g carbs is in my view very inadvisable. Ketosis is something that happens to people below 19BMI who are starving. It's not a way to lose weight. Any weight loss programme ought to be nutritionally balanced.
It's the number of calories you eat that matter, not what they are made up from. So why abuse your body when you don't need to?
Eating too few carbs might ruin your bodies ability to rebuild muscle, something it needs to do every day. And you are highly likely to be eating insufficient fibre. Perhaps you have constipation?

i thought that would be pain a lot lower down than bra strap level?

Not necessarily. The pain radiated into the shoulder and lower back for me. Not anywhere near the gall bladder. Where the pain originates from and where it is felt are not always the same thing. They only checked that because there's a history of it in my family and I've gone through a series of rapid gain/loss cycles so I was fulfilling nearly all at risk criteria. I was just far too young in their opinion.

    Edited for clarity

Thanks everyone for your responses. I would like to point out though that ketosis doesn't only happen to people below 19BMI and does not mean you are starving yourself. Dieting to lose fat involves your body needing to utilise it's fat stores for energy rather than what it is taking in on a daily basis. Ketosis just speeds that up by ensuring your body has fewer simple carbohydrate sources to use for energy instead of burning the fat.

I too would lean too gall bladder, also I would often have a numb spot on my front right side about 1/3 between breast and belly button. Radiating back pain in my case too.

I have no idea what that pain could be. I've been in ketosis for about a year and a half and have not experieneced that. I doubt it is diet related, but you never know. There may be somethig about ketosis that doesn't agree with you, although that's pretty unlikely.

Perhaps try the Low Carber Daily or keto MFP groups? There are people in there who have been in ketosis a long time, some with previous liver, kidney, and gall bladder issues too. They might be able to shed some light on it.

    Good luck.

I will add to the chorus about gallbladder, but it could also be kidney pain and depending on the side, your liver. You absolutely need to speak to a doctor. No WebMD, no Keto groups, visit a real doctor.

It's too high to be kidney pain, I've had kidney infections before and this is at least 8in higher than that. I don't think a pain for less than 24hrs warrants a trip to the doctor, which is why I posted on here. Obviously if it persists then I will see one. I don't have any gallstone symptoms so it seems pretty unlikely that it's that to be honest. I appreciate all the helpful comments though

Pains in the back and or chest could be angina (pain that occurs when the heart muscle is not receiving sufficient blood supply).

    Talk to your doctor.

You could google, ask forums, post on FB to your hearts content.
You still aren't going to get anything close to a responsible and accurate answer until you put your shoes on, and go see your Dr.

Well, why don't you get out of ketosis and see if the problem persists? Also see your doctor as others have said.

    This sounds logical to me.

Another one weighing in with "don't ask strangers on the Internet for medical advice, ask your doctor".
