Salty diet

Is a high salty diet just as fattening as a high sugar diet? I find at night I crave salty crackers, chips etc....the lowest fat option is pretzels or popcorn but they just don't cut it!! Tks

Salt is a mineral and has no calories, hence by definition is not fattening. It'll make you retain water, feel a bit bloaty, and if genetically predisposed, may eventually make your heart explode, but not fattening.2
