Apple watch

I recently acquired an apple watch and I was so excited to sync it to mfp in the hopes that it could help me lose some of the weight I put back on over the holidays. However, I am really struggling to understand how mfp calculates my calories. My apple watch shows my body's total calorie consumption (incl. exercise and BMR) to be ~2200 by my mfp app states that my total energy (which it claims it got from watch) to be ~2500. I'm confused as to what would cause this discrepancy and which figure I should follow.

Unless you've been at this a while, I really suggest using the watch as a tool for motivation and sticking with MFP's neat formula.0
