My wife says they don't work. Plus, you can't really run in them.

    Cheers,

HEYA! I have the Reebok "Traintone" i love them. you cant jog in them, but they are excellent for the gym - ive only been using them for a week and have noticed a big difference at the back of my knees, and although theyre not the coolest looking trainers, they are so,so,so comfortable!!!! really supportive and cushy. i love them best £50 i spent on trainers ever...

    Highly recommended. x

They really strengthened my calf muscles but I didn't really notice a difference anywhere else. I would suggest wearing them around the house a day or two, then maybe to the mall, and then head out on a long walk. It took me a few days to get used to them, and the arch made my toes hurt the first day. Love them!

I received the Sketchers Shape Ups about a year and a half ago as a gift. I've had problems with my feet since giving birth, so I find them very comfortable to walk around in. If I do a lot of walking in them and walk up hill and can feel it a little tiny bit in the back of my legs. These are not miracle shoes and you won't get major results from them but I figured it doesn't hurt to wear them for casual walking. You definitely can't run or work out in them though.

Wearing minimalist shoes strengthens your lower body as well...

Those(toning shoes) supposedly work by keeping your feet and lower body off kilter, so your body has to work to stabilize itself. Anything that works to keep you unstabilized, sounds like a bad idea to me.

It's not going to do what a regular training regimen would do.

And those with a regular training regimen aren't going to see increased benefits for wearing these.

So anyways, I fail to see their point.

I agree with the description, but the point is that you are using extra muscles to stabilise yourself. mainly core, which cant be a bad thing. Absolutely these shoes are not a miracle cure in anyway, but certainly worth the money for them for me anyway. As mentioned already the back of my knees have smoothed out and i find them very comfortable to work out in, but running and jogging is not advisable, however, seated leg press, treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical, cross trainer, rowing machine, general gym machinery is definitely do-able in these shoes. i walk to the shops in them and workout in the garage, and the gym in them. they are so comfy. but hey ho, each to their own eh...

And this is what I'm talking about, as to why things that cause us to be unstable can be a bad way to try to get toned:

    http://kansascity.injuryboard.com/defective-and-dangerous-products/sketchers-shapeup-shoes-blamed-for-hip-injuries.aspx?googleid=288708

Again, just get regular workouts. Spend less money.

As a runner, I take special care of my legs and feet and these shoes are just asking for trouble, biomechanically.

Don't just read the article I posted. Do research. Also, look at all of the other articles at the bottom of the page.

They're just shoes,,,I mean lets be honest if it was that easy we wouldn't be on here at all. I got suckers bought a pair and you can feel it a little but in all reality you'd be feeling it if you were just walking.
