I currently do not take anything for it. I use Coconut Oil to keep the inflammation at bay, follow a clean diet (try to), but do not take pills, ointments, etc. Flare ups come and go but no real fix. What do you do that works? Just would like to take my shirt off in public for once.

I don't have this but years ago i read an article from a doctor who said that rubbing the inside of a banana peel 2-3 x/day will help. He said this will get rid of warts also. I had a wart on my nose for several years & after about 2 weeks of doing this, it went away. maybe worth trying

Lol!!!! psoriasis is not warts (virus). Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease... I have psoriasis that splits my fingernails, peels layers and layers of skin... and I'm anaphylaxic allergic to bananas (and raw potatoes). So you, couldve literally, just killed me with your advice. Lmao

OP, It can be horrible but always manageable.

Seek a caring allergy specialist, let them know your concerns.

Do **every** prickly test. Then you may avoid what you can; minimize what you can't; Live life through what is always there.

    Have a wonderful day tomorrow!!

When I was a toddler, I was diagnosed with rheumatic fever. Doctors prescribed a heavy daily dosage of antibiotics. I took two servings of liquid penicillin every day for a decade--literally from age 2 through age 10. I have to believe that has something to do with how my immune system operates today, although I'm pulling at straws here.

I read articles that say it is possible to reset your immune system but have not found a lead to contact a specialist who believes in things like nutritional therapies or something homeopathic. Dermatologists re quick to write scripts for steroid creams which I also took for many years. Now I just want to be pharmaceutical free.

I've battled it for 20 years. I saw serious improvement when I took a B Vitamin Complex with Zinc for an extended period of time (years) and much greater clearing after I cleaned up my total crap diet while losing weight. Down to just elbows now :) Good Luck!

Tanning seems to help mine actually. The uv light has been proven to help in many studies

I have psoriasis, it's a nightmare at times.

I can't say that I've found anything that works well and I've tried just about everything - I've had the problem since 1980.

Having said that, I had very few lesions whilst pregnant - not that this information is of any help to you, OP.

UV light treatment offered a bit of temporary relief but it came back again. I often improve in summer (more exposure to sun). The vitamin D creams also gave temporary relief but it came back. I'm currently using a mild steroid cream as I want it back under control, then hopefully I can keep it under better control than of late.

I have found, though, that losing weight has helped a lot with reducing the lesions. My husband says that he's never seen it looking as good as it does right now.

I would also add, please get yourself checked for psoriatic arthritis (PsA) - in the UK psoriasis sufferers are supposed to be reviewed annually and I wasn't until my toes started hurting. Then I'm suddenly diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and also nail psoriasis. Fortunately only one of my toe joints has been damaged and the inflammation is currently in remission. Even if you don't want to get checked over for PsA, please read some of the more trustworthy information sources about it so that you are aware of what to look out for. PsA needs treating quickly and aggressively to avoid joint damage.

I'm a mess of autoimmune diseases. See a dermatologist. Get comfortable with steroid creams, or prednisolone if it's bad enough. Dunno why people with autoimmune disease think that refusing to take drugs proven to return their immune system to normal is better than living in misery. I've tried every diet under the sun (including the super restrictive AIP diet) and nothing has touched it except for steroids to dampen my excitable immune system. I have arthritis also which is a total bugger. I did nothing to cause my illnesses- it's just genes. Nothing I do myself can cure them either- medication can help. Good luck.

I have it too, I find it flares up during times of stress. I also suffered with chronic candida not sure if it's related but gut and autoimmune kinda go hand in hand. Haven't done anything serious about exploring treatment because it's not *that* bad but it was when i was younger. In for replies

I have Crohn's disease which is also autoimmune. My GI doc said that it is possible to reset my immune system if I can stay out of a flare for at least 5 years and then he could take me off meds. Not sure if I believe it but I'm giving it a try. I'm still on the Humira but hoping with the addition of AIP I can reach remission for years to come. Best of luck to you! I would like to be off all meds.

Yeah, I'm still here. Went to see an award winning rheumatologist and immediately expressed my concern about just going on pills. He said not to worry, he'll take care of me and without blinking wrote me 3 prescriptions. What the hell is wrong with this industry?

Three weeks ago I started the keto diet. Few net carbs, limited dairy, much less protein than I was consuming on Paleo and virtually gluten free. Inflammation has been very limited and I feel better.
