Does anyone else use a stationary bike? Curious because mine tells me that I am burning about 100 calories every 10 minutes of easy biking. Does anyone know if this seems acurate? Please help...

I just bought a new stationary bike...this one gives different calories burned than the old one but an average at a vigorous rate should be 10 cals per minute or 100 for 10 minutes....when I go light to moderate it is about 5-7 cals per minute...it takes quite an effort and a good sweat for me to hit 10 cals a minute

does your bike give the option of programming weight and age? If not, I'd say it's not very accurate. Unless exercise machines give you the option to program it for age, weight, and sometimes gender, they can over estimate by almost 60%. Once a machine takes into consideration your age and weight then it's usually only off by about 10-15%.

I use a stationary bike in my school's gym, and it always seems like it gives me way too many. I usually just tell MFP the time I did under "stationary bicycle, general." I've been feeling kind of wary of even MFP though, so I'm trying to get my hands on an HRM.
