On the go..

If you are on the go and don't have an option of packing anything, what's your go to meal at a drive thru....

A Wendy's small chili and plain baked potato clocks in under 500 calories and would fill me up nicely. I'd top the potato with the chili, skip any sour cream/butter/cheese needs that way.

I always look up online for fast food restaurants. They usually have a Nutritional Facts menu in PDF format that you can google. (I'm only being vague because I'm not sure what you like specifically and if you look up their menu there are usually a decent amount of items that you can order).

I do want to add that Panera's grab-n-go option is amazing. You just pay online and run into the store real quick and grab your food that's already made. Chipotle and Qdoba also have that option that I know of. That way you can get "healthier" fast food places quick, even though they don't have a traditional drive-thru.

I'd probably run into the grocery store and grab an apple and a single-serve peanut butter packet (or some dry-roasted peanuts), or some dry-roasted soybeans and a piece of fruit, or some string cheese.

If you really like fast food, +1 to the online nutritional review in advance. I've found several filling options at Taco Bell that aren't crazy high calorie (stick with simple soft tacos or burritos, and back away from the multi-layer cheesy fry-up tortilla-chip-y thingies). Wendy's has had some good power-bowl salads (don't get the crispy-fry meat versions). Subway's chopped salads are good (but not handy if you're eating while driving, and they don't usually have a drive-through). If I must go to Mickey D's, I usually get a basic egg McMuffin or oatmeal (I love oatmeal) since you can now mostly get those all day.

Chick Fil A grilled nuggets, fruit bowl or salad and a large iced tea.

Chick-fil-a chargrilled chicken wrap, no sauce. Bonus in that it is uncomplicated to eat. Next would be McDonald's southwest salad with grilled chicken chicken and the southwest dressing and the lime squeezed over it. It is far messier to prep and eat.

How, "on the go," are we talking? If I have absolutely no time to even sit and eat, I order a kids meal. If I have a little time, subway salad.
