Hi all
I am loving MFP after a full week now tracking what i eat and meeting new people.
I am doing well with watching my calories and Fat and eating lovely things doing so.....however should i be worried if i am eating more than the recommended protein is? For example today it says i am 40g over!
Thanks

I have been staying in my calories but seem to go over my sugars because of fruit!? do you track fruits? some poeple on here say not to? My carbs also seem to be over....its quite frustrating!!0

this is a really common post. Everyone says that MFP puts proteins quite low. So long as it's from good sources I wouldn't worry:flowerforyou:0

I track all my fruit as they can be high in calories and sugar so i dont want to make any mistakes :-/
thanks guys0 -
fruit is healthy sugar!!!! Protein is awesome for muscles. Go over protein and fiber if u can, but be careful of what kind of proteins u are eating...0

Its hard to have too much protein. Some suggest aiming for 1g per lb of your ideal lean body weight - I aim for 100g protein per day, but dont often reach it.
Going over (as long as you are under on calories) wont hinder your weight loss. It's a good thing especially if you are doing strength training, looking to build muscles.0 -
You can change your macro goals so you stop "going over" I bumped my protein from the defauly 15% to 30% and recently put it to 35% to get my target of 1 gram per pound of goal body weight. I'll adjust later for lean body mass etc but while I still have over 100 lbs to go it works.0

You can customize your settings under the Goals tab if you want. MFP sets protein at only 15% by default. I raised mine to 35%. i do track fruits, but don't worry about going over a bit on sugar if it is all from healthy sources like milk or fruit. Welcome to MFP!0

Just another voice to say the MFP is way too Low! 65 is about the low normal. I am another that trys for 80 - 110 per day. YOu will see weight lifters with even higher goals.
Lots of lean protein is great for your diet. A conservative amount of calories combined with Water, Protein, Fiber and Exercise is the best way to go. You will find exactly how much of each works for you. Just want to limit Carb, Starches, fat and sodium.

I vote for more protein too! And I watch/record all the fruits I eat because, even though fruit is healthier than candy, sugar is sugar and too much is too much. The only thing I don't record are the lower sugar vegies. I don't record lettuce, spinach, onions, green peppers, cucumbers, celery, mushrooms, garlic, etc... and I load up on them! Carrots I sometimes record - they're higer in sugar than other vegies.0

Yeah, apparently you need to change your protein goal. I just (like 2 minutes ago) learned this. MFP sets it for 15% of your daily calories. I just changed it to 30% (and carbs down to 40% from 55%).0
