I lived in Bremerton for a short time in my life. I loved the area and have made it back on a few occasions (most recently to hike the Hoh Valley, the only natural rain-forest in the continental United States).

When I was very young, my grandmother who painted in Poulsbo used to take me to Liberty Bay Bakery & Cafe where I would have a cookie shaped like a whale. While she passed many years ago, I did head to the same bakery when I was last in the area. I had just finished my hike and was heading back to the East Coast the next day, but one of the employees was absolutely gorgeous. I asked her out saying, "The next time I'll be back around here is probably when my grandfather dies but when that time comes, I'd love to buy you a drink."

My grandfather ended up moving to Colorado and just passed away a week and a half ago and I'm bummed that I won't be able to go back to Washington to find that girl. Que sera, sera.

  • Awh im sorry to hear of your loss :o( thats awesome ur grandmother was a painter. I love painting. The Puget Sound area is a great place to find inspiration. Poulsbo especially! They have a few GORGEOUS golf courses. I lived in Port Orchard for 7 years which is about a 20 minute drive from Bremerton. It really is a beautiful area. My sister actually just got a job at the naval yard there in Bremerton. Im hoping to move back up to that area someday. I have alot of family up there. About 8 years ago, right b4 i started high school, i moved down to southern washington when my dad got a new job. It's nice down here also, but i still miss the sound's beaches. Now that im almost 23... i think its time i make my way back home :o) Thanks for sharing your experience!
