So I guess I want to use the watch with my exercise but use the fitbit to count steps0

I would say get the most basic Fitbit. When it updates MFP, it only imports the steps under exercise. From yesterday, my log reads:
Fitbit Tracker Calorie Adjustment 1,288
11,802 Steps1 -
I use my Spark for my runs. I don't have it linked to anything. I use my FitBit for steps. I also don't have that linked to anything, but if you want it linked to MFP, you could.1

I would definitely NOT use your Spark for linking to MFP due to the calorie counts being way off for me. They're almost double what they should be on my runs.
