hey anyone know if a high schools track field is open to the public or not?? I want to run around the track but dont know if it would be considered trespassing if im not a student :D and I dont want to join a gym to run a treadmill or around my town its dangerous haha.

  • My guess would be if there is not a pad lock on the gate, you should be OK. Usually you will see other people walking on the track so you won't feel like the only one.

I go on one nearby quite often and so do other people. I live in Washington. Not sure if other places have laws about this or not.

usually as long as there is not an event you can use it, a good indicator is if it's locked up or not ;) I'd say if it's open, it's fair game! I use the one at our high school, and also at one of the universities here when there's not a meet or practice going on....

Yes- most of them are typically open to the public. I run at the local high school track all the time :).

I don't *think* it would be trespassing. As long as you're not being super creepy and lurking in front of the cheerleaders while they're practicing, you should be fine

You could always call the school and doublecheck though....

If it's a public school, the public is usually free to use them as long as they don't interfere with the students' use of them.
