First step is watching what you eat and logging your food.
Then alternate between cardio and weights on alternate days and stick to the routine for a couple months.
When I say cardio, it's not useless cardio like treadmill walking or ellipticalling while reading people's magazine. You need to get on a stairmaster, rower, versa climber or exercise/spinning bike.
You know what they say about opinions.2 -

Lol I had to
This is confusing, is the *kitten* the opinion or is it the *kitten* that has the opinion? Make up your mind!

Good luck with your weight loss. It can be really hard.1 -

You might not like the way @Cutaway_Collar phrased it but the point is valid:
If you can read a magazine article or concentrate on a TV show while "exercising" then you probably aren't working hard enough. That is how many people who take fitness and exercise seriously look at it.
I think he gave good (if blunt) advice. That isn't really an opinion, it is more about efficiency and effectiveness.
My *opinion* is that substituting such low-return activity for "exercise" is why many people over-estimate the calories burned from "cardio" so frequently.

It really is an opinion. Treadmill walking or ellipticalling is not "useless cardio". Grant it, it's probably not as intense as some of you "gym buffs" would do it, but it is still working out and it can absolutely be effective. Everyone is different and perhaps the more fit you become, the more intense your workouts need to be to see results. That still doesn't mean it's useless. Again opinions.2 -

I've been biting my tongue a lot lately....much "why bother" as people really don't care, or get their panties in knot if the opinion is different than theirs.1 -

I chuckle at people who even use treadmills or ellipticals. It's a waste of time. Good for warming up before weights, but for an all out cardio session, nope!
Tracey, find a stairmaster near you. You're welcome
I can't tell if your arrogance is a joke or if you're really that full of yourself. I'm gonna go with a joke because you're a pretty funny dude, sometimes, when you're not chafingasses.2 -

@Cutaway_Collar Thanks for having my back on this. You know how serious I take this *kitten*!
I guess I shoulda just flagged it as abusive spelling. If I had a nickel for every time I have seen LOSE misspelled as LOOSE on MFP and four years on WW Community Boards I couldn't retire. Oh wait. I retired in 2010!
PS @Villae81 STAY OFF MY Lawn!
Then I ran into ladies who told me they absolutely have no respect for poor spellers.
I was like holy sheeeet.
These are just unwritten laws. In professional space, the moment an email comes in with tons of typos, especially the your versus you're or there versus their..... you lose respect rightaway.
I want to open a school. The cutaway collar institute for dudes who can't spell good but want to spell good and do other good things.
Ya, when I was doing online dating I would pass on poorly spelled and constructed profiles. My now-fiance's profile was extremely well written.1 -

But not a real bike, and god forbid you go outside because that might expose you to sunlight.0 -

@Villae81 Nope, but you have a typo. should be "in your" not "on your".

How many accounts do you have Jim?
@LiftingLady5
Three, Why, are you stalking me?
I signed up for MFP b/c bunch of GoaDs (Guys on a Diet) from WW moved to MFP after WW closed their community BBs. I signed up and was assigned a User Name, I tried to get a User Name similar to my WW User Name but added MFP, I need to delete two of my three attempts to establish MFP account. I prefer Jim376.

sorry @traceyroy54 I have a short attention span sometimes. Sometimes couples can work together to lose the weight, but ultimately it is up to you and your own individual effort to lose your own weight, regardless of your spouse. Log your food honestly, exercise, try to set physical goals for yourself and keep moving forward. If you want it for yourself you have to keep trying. Perhaps spouse will follow in your footsteps, perhaps not. People have to want it for themselves or it won't happen. And its up to you, not your spouse, to make it happen for you.
I see what you did there lol0 -
