First time runner!

Hi all. This is my first time getting into running consistently and also tracking my miles. I am slow and overweight, but I hope to change that, as I have always enjoyed running and envied those that can run for a long time without stopping. Blows my mind!

My goal is 50 this month. I worry about staying consistent and taking too long of breaks between running sessions (normally what I tend to do).

Okay....I think I'm posting wrong. How the heck do I post in a challenge?

Hi! I know how you feel. After a "bad" physical I decided to do something about it. I downloaded a an app C25K - that's couch potato to 5K. I signed up for a 5K in my area ( I picked the one that gave me a sandwich and a beer at the end ) and then did the program. It is a great program and it gets you running gradually for a 5K. I find if you sign up for a race first...you HAVE to do it :-)

    Hi @meaganmosley !

I started running just shy of 2 years ago. I hated it at first and struggled a lot with it. I kept at it and here I am today still running and improving my time for a 5km. I am now working my way up to a 10km run!! I love running so much that I have increased my running from 3 days a week to 4-5 days a week. I get up at 4:30am to be able to run before work. I have a bit of an addiction now. I am playing with split times and creating playlists for each different run. I have started incorporating a longer run on the weekend. My point being don't give up..persevere through and maybe one day you'll love it as much as me. However, please do not push yourself too hard...slow and steady to avoid injury!!

I agree with @lagcyr sign up for a race, having a goal helps!!

    Happy Running ladies!!! :)
