JC- Welcome! I'm not new to MFP, but new to the forums, myself. I've totally been here a few times in my life. And I'm also a two time refugee from WW. Don't think there's something wrong because it didn't work for you! Not every system is for everyone. Transitioning to thinking about food a different way is definitely learning curve, but you'll learn a lot when you start counting calories instead of points. I for one was shocked by the value of certain foods, as well as their nutritional content.
Definitely don't forget to weigh everything you eat, and make sure you are using the right entries for foods, like WW, not all of them are verified. There's a great thread here with "Getting Started" articles you should check out.

I get ya. One thing I hate about my mirrors is that they don't make me look that big. But then I see pictures and that's where my reality check is. The dreaded pictures. They don't lie. And they don't put 10 lbs on you. Those 10 lbs are actually ON you lol.
It was seeing myself in pictures that made me join this site. So glad I did.2 -

I've done WW a long time ago with my mom. Prefer MFP! Pretty easy once you get it, pretty quick, super free good luck!0

Welcome. Lots of good info in the forums if you have specific questions. Not much to the app really, just set a realistic target calorie goal, weigh solid food, measure liquids, and log everything you put into your mouth. That experience alone will be eye-opening in all probability. I don't think I'm alone in saying that the reality check was realizing what I was actually eating vs. what I thought I was eating.
With regard to suggestions, my usuals are are more-or-less as follows:- Set realistic goals, both calorie, long-term, and short-term. The people that come into this with the idea that they are going to lose 25 lbs per month or something are simply setting themselves up for failure. None of us got fat overnight, none of us are gonna slim up overnight either. Realize this is a long-term lifestyle change, not a diet.
- Don't sweat it if you go off the rails for a meal, or even two or three. You can survive those kinds of things with nary a bump in the road as long as they are occasional. If you do make a bad choice, get back on track ASAP. Don't do the "well, today is shot. I may as well eat what I want and start again tomorrow" thing. If you make a bad meal or food choice, move on and make a better one for the next meal, and the one after, and the one after.
Good luck on your journey. You can do this.1
