Hello everyone, I am a frequent "my fitness pal" user but decided to take advantage of the community and support of others and also try to do same for others. I am 44 and just had 4 shoulder surgeries in a year and a half time, gained 20lbs, need to get back to my fitness routine and get motivated to lose this 20 lbs! I found tracking calories works well for me as it keeps me accountable.... Just need to know some tricks to get active once again after being down (physically) for way to long???? Best of luck to us all, should be interesting...... Not sure how much fun lol!!!!!

    Welcome!

My suggestion to you would be to start slow. Be accountable to your diet and start some basic cardiovascular exercises. Stair-climber, treadmill, or even the bike. Something to get your heart-rate up and consistently raised for at least 20-30 minutes per day. Stay away from any intensive weight lifting, if you want to start on shoulders than do so with a lot stretching before going into weight lifting. Also, ensure you're taking some good supplement support - multi vitamins, fishoil, maybe even some turmeric (in pill form) to help with stiffness and joint swelling. Best of luck to you!

Agree with all this ⬆ start with cardio work! Get the body used to working again! Then we'll look at drawing you up a Resistance program Good Luck x

Agree with all above! Also get advice from your doc about exercises or weight training with your shoulder injuries you've had. Don't want to re injure that again. Best of luck. We all are here for ya!

Thankyou for responses and advice! With my shoulder issues, I am limited when it comes to strength training.... However Cardio I am not so need to quit making excuses and get myself moving. I never had a weight problem and I was always active, I appreciate your insights as this "weight thing" is new to me.
