Do you love popcorn but hate the added salt, fat and calories from prepackaged? Do you love hot air popped corn but don't have the time (or room) to break out the machine at home or want it at work? Me too!!! Well I found a great solution over the weekend!!! It's a microwaveable popcorn popper that doesn't require anything other than popcorn and a microwave! No special filters or things like that. And you can make with OR without oil! I just used mine for the first time and LOVE It! Fresh, hot popcorn that I can control the added flavors, etc. I have some butter-flavored olive oil that I sprayed on and it is DELISH!!! Next time I'm going to try either some cinnamon or maybe garlic powder.... yum!

I apologize for sounding like a commercial, but I just wanted to share my experience with all of you other popcorn lovers! Such an easy, healthy and inexpensive snack!!!

I got it at Target and it was only $8.99... what a steal of a deal!

Edit: Not sure why, but it's not listed on Target's website (I got it in-store), but it is on amazon, here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/Nordic-Ware-60120-Microwaver-Popcorn/dp/B00004W4UP

The brand is Nordic Ware. Hope you like it!!!

Wow! Great to hear ... gonna have to check that out for sure ... thanks so much for sharing!!
  • I have one of those, too, and it is a lifesaver! It's not the same experience as popcorn popped in olive oil in my Whirly Pop (super yum) but it's a much lower calorie and fat option.

Wow, that sounds cool! I just picked up a hot-air popper & I have to say, I'm not all that keen on it. It's tough & I am constintly picking it out of my teeth! lol Does this micro-popper make it tough??

popcorn is VERY different here, first time I was in the states with my children, at Disney we saw a popcorn stand and they wanted some, so we bought some and they all tucked in and universally spat it out, we then had to throw it away. It was a shock to discover it was salty! YUK YUK

Our popcorn is sweet, coated in toffee and is FULL of calories.

    Nope, it's this one: http://www.amazon.com/Nordic-Ware-60120-Microwaver-Popcorn/dp/B00004W4UP

This one you don't have to have replacement filter thingsy for.. the presto you do (i believe). It's strange, I don't see it on Target's website, but I did get it in their store. The brand is Nordic Ware.

This thing is amazing... it's super easy! I brought mine to work and made it here. Just put a 1/3 cup of kernels in it, put it in the microwave for 3 min and just listened for the popping to stop (similar to prepackaged microwave popcorn) and voila... done! And you can even serve it in the same bowl - less dishes!!! :)

I have the presto-power pop one. I have had it for a number of years now. It does need these "concentrator" cup things at the bottom but you can use them multiple times before replacing them. I bought a bunch of packages of them from Amazon one time and think I paid $1 a package and there are 5 in a package.

I LOVE popcorn but won't eat the prepackaged stuff because of all the stuff they put in it. This has been an awesome solution for me. Glad to know that there is one out there now that doesn't require the cups. I worry sometimes what I will do if I am unable to locate the paper cup things again when my stash runs out. I seriously LOVE popcorn...

They have these misters at Bed, Bath & Beyond for $9.99... I had a 20% off coupon, so only a bit over $8... great investment!!!

In 1986, I used to work in an electronics store, back then microwaves were really getting popular. There was an entire line of Rubbermaid microwave dishes including the popcorn popper. I used it for years, it moved three states with me. Of course, I was not always using it-opting instead for the higher fat version. Anyway, I really started using it again last year, and it finally died on me. I thought I was sunk and then too, I found the Nordic Ware version in Target. As you stated it is cheap, works great, and you save both money and calories.

Awesome! I love it!!! And I love popcorn and this will let me eat more and not feel guilty about so much salt and fat in the prepackaged stuff!!! What do you put on yours?

Just be careful with the presto one... you have to use these filter things in them... with the one I got, you don't need a filter or anything, just put the kernels right in the bowl and bam, hot air popcorn in like 2-4 minutes!!! :)

Is it tough like air-popped? Also, in the reviews they complain that it gets really hot. (which kinda makes sense, since your COOKING IN IT!) but just curious!

Nope, my popcorn was actually pretty light and fluffy... very comparable to prepackaged microwave stuff... And it does get warm, but not too hot to hold. I just grabbed it by the sides when it was done. It retains the heat some though so it keeps the popcorn warm, which is nice, but not too hot. Hope that helps! :)

I have one but have not used it yet. Now I won't be able to eat popcorn for at least 6 weeks - having my wisdom teeth removed.
