It's an adaptogen. I used it briefly during menopause, but didn't like the effects.

Both my husband and I used it when we were trying to get pregnant for the first time.

Please note that if you are going to use Maca there are a some side effects to consider, from mild to serious depending on the person. Be also aware of the amounts you are taking, like everything else, it might really help somebody and they will feel great while totally making others feel really sick. I just thought of putting a warning out there for people. If it was recommended by a doctor in controlled doses and they will keep checking on you then it's fine as they might be able to guide you in what direction to go depending on how you feel on it. Please be safe and conscious of your health as hormones are no joke.

Some people might suggest Spirulina but please stay away from it if you suffer from any form of thyroid disease and you are taking medication for it.
