Metabolic Disorders

I was diagnosed with a metabolic disorder back in January and have been on Qsymia ever since. I am currently on a variety of other supplements to essentially keep my body acting as though it is "normal". Over the summer I got frustrated and stopped taking everything and gained 18lbs in 4 months. I regularly exercise and eat 1200 calories. I'm always hearing it's as simple as "calories in, calories out" but it isn't for me and I guess this week the reality of my doctor telling me I may need to be on medicine forever just really got me bummed out. Looking for support or anyone else in a similar situation ?

what metabolic disorder do you have? many people i know who got metabolic disorders was due to not eating enough and exercising too much, so it concerns me slightly that you eat 1200 only. Anyway - I don't know anything about it personally so am not one to comment, but have you thought to see a non-doctor person (ie nutritionist) to look into your disorder?

Depending on what it is, of course.

I go to a dietician and a doctor every month. It was essentially caused by a decade of being calorie deficient. I'm working on ignoring calories and focusing on increasing my protein and decreasing my carbs. Funny you should mention this...my goal this month is to decrease my exercise and eat more so your advice is spot on.
