Hell, whippins’ were doled out back in my day with whatever was handy. The worse was when there weren’t anything handy, you had to go out and pick your own switch and it had best be right for the tasking cause if not you got whipped by it and then you were taken out back and shown how to properly pick the right tool for the job.
