I am new to the Olympic lifting lifestyle. Tweaking with Macros to see how it affects me. I have 10lbs to lose.
Should I focus more on cutting carbs or cutting fats?
How about effects of each? Ive got to maintain strength and gain strength while cutting 10lbs.

Personally, my lifts and everything else suffers when I go too low on carbs...but I also don't do low fat in a cut either...I just try to balance everything out and hit my calories without jacking around with my performance too much.
It's likely you will lose some performance in a cut regardless...3 -

well, In loosing the weight I am shooting everyday for 2400 calories. So im not cutting the calories much, just cleaning up the diet considerably. As my form gets better, I should get to the end of my Newb gains pretty quick0

Hitting minimum goals for protein and fat is my only requirement from macro tracking.
Carbs work very well for me in terms of feeling full, enjoyment and also exercise performance - your experience may well be different, that's where experimentation helps as there isn't a once size fits all approach.0 -
Until you get to extremes I don't think there's going to be any noticeable difference on performance outcomes.
There may be substantial differences on diet adherence and so I'd primarily focus on that, once again provided that you're not taking an extreme approach where you're trying to bring either of those macronutrients to absurdly low levels.1 -

Haha I love how myfitnesspal auto replaces any swear word with kitten!!!
Anyways yeah you want a balance. Generally though you figure out your necessary quantity of protein and fat which are both a certain percentage of grams to your body weight, figure out your calorie goal, and carbs make up the remainder of those calories.

So far Im down to 214.6 as of this morning. Keeping with 207/83/207 and ahering pretty easily. Running a 5K with the wife this evening and I havent done cardio in WEEKS. Should be murder. But i brought along the Naked Juice and a touch of extra rice for some quick carbs. Anxious to see how this one turns out.0

I think it all depends on what u want to accomplish. I d rather reduce carbs more than fat and it s worked pretty well for me. However, carbs are needed for training and if u do so, you can still have a balance intake of both. Preferably, you might wanna consume complex carbs and not simple ones since these last ones don t have much nutritional content0
