Workout routine for runners?

What would be a good workout routine for someone wanting to get into running? Just trying to mix up my current routine!

Also, I'm flat-footed, so running can cause me slight pain when I run; what can I do to make it less painful? Any good running shoes that you might recommend?

Thank you in advance!!

First, go to a good running store (a specialty store like Fleet Feet) and get shoes that are appropriate for your feet. The folks at these types of stores now how to deal with all types of feet.

Next, check out a program like "couch to 5k". Follow it. Don't try to overdo it even if you think you can. Take it slow and your body will thank you.

    Good luck.

    Great advice from @dewd2

I would also add hills and stairs to help with form and strengthening! I also jump rope to help strengthen my calves
