Gaining & Losing The Same Weight

Hello Community.
Over the last four or five years I have been ebbing & flowing between gaining about 15 lbs and losing the 15 lbs. I am so sick of how I am, feel, & look when I have the weight on. I am not mentally strong during that (currently) time.

But when I lose it, it takes not only a ton of exercise work (which I'm fine with, I'm athletic), but also a lot of will power & self motivation which I often don't have. I don't have a support system in real life. So I suppose I am just looking for some support here to get back on track & not only lose the weight (but more importantly tone up) but also keep it off for good.

I am only 23 years old (& 6' 1" tall), so the fact I've been struggling with this body image & anxiety issue for years has been very taxing.

I lost 80 lbs and have been maintaining my goal weight since April 2016.

My goal weight is actually a "goal weight range". Anything between 61 and 63 kg is normal, since the body naturally gains and loses water due to exercise, and this is nothing to worry about.

I make sure I log my food accurately, and adjust my calories when I need to.

When you lose weight, do you starve yourself, and then do you feel the need to eat a lot after you've lost the weight and gain it back?

I know that used to happen to me a lot before I discovered MFP and logging accurately.

If you can keep aware of your caloric intake, you don't need to go to such extremes and can nip a weight gain in the bud, while still eating to feel satisfied.

It's not the same weight. :) Maybe the same number of pounds. But it's different ones each time. Although, you are increasing the size of the same fat cells.

On the other hand, when you build strength, you create new muscle cells. Something to think about. :D

It does take a lot of willpower, self motivation, and discipline. These are skills you need for the rest of your life, not only for weight management, but many other areas of life. You learn to do the things you want badly enough. There are lots of self-help programs, books, online courses, etc that can help you develop such skills. You are young, even though you feel old and that you have been struggling for many years. Now is the time to develop some life long skills!

@Orphia I don't starve myself but I do drastically cut my caloric intake & ignore my naturally bigger taller body's needs. Yeah. Stress & not having anyone around to make me "feel guilty" for eating too much is when I gain it back. I used to count calories & workout and log it all, it helped. Then I stopped, few years ago now. But I'm restarting with this now, again. Thank you for the insightful reply. :)
