Net vs gross calories

I know that you aren't supposed to go under 1500 calories (as a man) for gross daily intake. Is the same true for net calories ie. after accounting for all food and exercise.

Typically, yes. The minimum net is to make sure you're getting adequate macros and nutrition. Everyone has low days and high days. Just try to not go overboard and be consistently under.

It's actually not going under 1500 net for men. If you earn more calories from exercise, you are supposed to eat them back. MFP uses the NEAT system, so exercise is not factored in.

However, because burns in the MFP database are considered to be inflated, many here suggest not eating more than 50% of the calories you earn from exercise.
