I lied whenever I posted a picture online- with the special angles that hide my double chin, chubby cheeks, and body cropped.
I lied whenever I returned from the dressing room to put a piece of clothing to put back on the rack- it wasn't that I just didn't like the color, it didn't fit.
I lied to my nutritionist- I did know why the weight wasn't coming off.
I lied to my friends- I wasn't full from earlier, I was embarrassed to eat in front of them.
I lied when I shopped- this bag of salad I've bought for 12 weeks in a row wasn't going to be eaten.
I lied to everyone about my weight and my clothing size- I was almost passing 300 pounds, not 250.
I lied to myself- I wasn't going to start tomorrow, that meal was THAT bad, and I'm not okay being this size.
I'm tired of lying. I'm tired of being the fat chick. Things are changing and I'm taking responsibility for my weight and health.
Hi! I have lost 7 pounds since starting last week, this is the first time I've ever really been serious about changing. I'm looking to lose 100+ pounds. I started by logging everything I ate, all of it, every day.
It was hard to look at that at the end of the day in early days. Lots of pudding and bread and cereal instead of lean meats, vegetables and better choices. I found I was living on processed carbs pretty much. No wonder I felt awful, no actual nutrition at all. Logging it all forced me to be honest in everything. I kept my food diary private, but I didn't leave anything out.
Now my diary is full of fruit, vegetables, lean meat and dairy, and even the occasional pint of ice cream or loaf of French bread. I've lost the weight and kept it off for nine years. It was often two steps forward and one step back, but I kept plugging away at it - and in the direction I wanted to go.
You can do it too. Honesty with yourself is all that is needed.13 -

Weigh to lose.
So awesome you can be so honest now. It's hard. Losing weight is tough. I am 90 pounds down. You can do it. At one time I thought I couldn't do it ether. Buy I got tired of being the fat guy. Friend me if you like. I love encouraging my fellow friends on.6 -

Good for you! A couple of years ago I lost 135 pounds. I wasnt at goal...I still need to lose at least another 70. I let life get in the way.I was in grad school and it became a good excuse to slide back into old habits. I promptly gained back almost 50 pounds of what I had lost. Its hard to be honest with other people sometimes, but even harder to be honest with yourself. So here I am again...being inspired this morning by your post. Love to be added by anyone3

You can do this!
Admitting you are not okay with how you are now is the first step but it is not the hardest. Doing it the next day is the hardest. You can do it though! Just keep moving!3 -
This is quite possibly the strongest first post in the history of MFP. There is no doubt in my mind that you will be successful. Don't overdo it and make small changes that have a dramatic impact over time.

When I started MFP one of the biggest things I had to learn to accept was how much I was lying...to myself.
It was so easy for me to pretend I hadn't eaten all that bad recently, because I had a whole meal and a snack that was okay, and thus I deserved a treat. Those treats would add up and were the reason why I was fat in the first place. Good job acknowledging your lies and learning to change them!1 -

Love this!! I know what you mean! I'm new to here but have tried this journey for years starting 322 down to 260 then back I have had some major health issues and lost my mom to colon cancer and doc is worried about me so for the kids and myself I have decided no more lies this IS going to work this time we stopped all fast food and eat at home only now so far we have cut out half of the usual processed foods.. Working on the other half of time but taking steps I am now at 272 with alot of muscle and loose skin..i am starting to like my appearance for once in my life..i only get to do walking as exercise but it's working.. I hated walking now I love it.... I still have a way to go to get under 200..wanting to get to 180..but this time seems to be sticking.. And I'm proud of myself.. Be proud of yourself for this step.. Would love some friends to keep me going to feel free to add me.. Anyone!1

Go girl - bold statement that rings true for a lot of us. I lie every time I think this mouthful won't hurt as I'll burn it off tomorrow and then tomorrow never comes but more mouthfuls do. I needed to read this to get myself back in the right mindset. We can do this! 70 pounds to go before my big day in April and only 24 weeks to go now - I think that's around 6-7 pounds a week (we think in kilograms here Downunder, so not entirely sure) but you have just inspired me that can be done. Thank you1

This is exactly me. Now that I have a little girl I want to be able to run around with her and play. Do all the things that my mother was never able to do with me because of her own weight issues. I also want to show her what good healthy choices are instead of what I grew up with that got me here in the first place. I'm 22lbs down but still have 100 to go. Add me and we can motivate each other.2

Welcome darling. Make sure your words are more than words and your 'one year from now' you - the new you- will thank you for it.
Don't try to go to the extreme (fasting for ages or something like that), replace food wisely and make some exercise. DON'T run before learning to walk, don't push yourself to the point you get demotivated.
Look for a buddy to go for walks everyday (4 legged buddies works as well) and get rid of excuses.
You are going to be beautiful in any size but you'll became much more stronger (physically and mentally) with every shred pound.
Be happy for every inch you lose and every pound you shred even if you don't see so much of a difference in the mirror, sometimes we just need the time to make the mental adjustment.
And enjoy the process!!!!
P.s. Eat that veggies bag steamed with some sesame seeds ;-)0 -
Hope it's okay to update on this post again, it's been 6 months and I'm down 81 pounds! Loving the journey and so glad I downloaded this app. If you were like me lying to yourself and you're ready to change I just wanted to come back and say you can do it!

Oh for sure staying healthy all that water retention weight dropped super fast in the beginning by reducing my sodium from the ridiculously high intake I was at, the rest has been at a more steady pace lol.3
