Pissed

m arriving at my tipping point. It’s been since August 22nd that I weight and write what I eat. It is starting to get on my nerves, especially since it doesn’t show on the scale, only yoyo-ing between 220 et 215. It won’t go lower. It is stable there. I’ll give you that, it shows a bit in my face and my belly, but for now it is the number I want to see a change in. It appears I still eat too much, but I don’t know what to cut. I don’t eat chips, I don’t drink cola or juice, no milk, or cream or sugar in my coffey, no cookies, almost no dessert. I almost haven’t eaten butter in 2 months and nothing show. I’m stuck at 215 and I’M PISSED!

    Do you weigh your food?

Weigh everything, including your bagel. I seldom get things that weigh exactly xx5 or xx0, but many of your items do, are you weighing those or taking the value from a packet?

I weight things especialy things that are not a "unit". ( like a bagel, i just scan the barcode. It is faster).

    I do sports. I don't take a 2nd plate.

    My journal is open.

It's not about cutting out certain foods- I used to think it was about eating clean and working out- and I lost NO weight that way.

It's about eating in a caloric deficit.

I was pissed once too- now I'm slowly but steadily losing body fat.

Just stay within your daily calorie limit and it will work- it sounds like you aren't tracking your calories properly at this point- get a digital food scale to help you and log everything you consume.

If you're tracking and hitting your goals and still not losing then your calories are not set correctly.

What is your current calorie goal?

Also you say you don't know what else to cut out- how about not cutting anything out? Just eat smaller portions.
I used to cut out dairy, chocolate, butter.... now I eat all of those and am still losing weight. I just eat them in potions that still allow me to stay within my daily calorie limit.

There are also very rare cases where a person goes way too low calorie from the start and their hormones and metabolism freak out- are you doing some crazy low calorie goal like 1000 calories and tons of exercise?

I took a look at your journal and there are many entries that are measured in cups and spoons. Avoid these since they are typically wrong. Weigh everything. If you are not losing weight it is typically because you are not in a calorie deficit.

as for barcode entries they can be wrong, many of the MFP entries are incorrect. so you have to cross reference and make sure they are right.you dont have to cut things out just eat less or smaller portions and if you are weighing food but think you are still eating too much then either you arent weighing properly,or you are not weighing everything.if you upped your exercise you could be retaining water also.if its showing on parts of your body then I would use a measuring tape and take measurements once a month. for some you will lose inches before it registers on the scale. thats what happened when I started.

Also, how are you coming up with calories burned? If you're using the MFP numbers, they can be wrong (sometimes high, sometimes low). If possible, get a HR monitor to track your calories burned.

Don't give up! You just need to tweak a few things and you'll start losing. The key, though, is to keep going! :) You can do it!

I would say before you worry about butter I would take a look at how much bread, potatoes and pasta you are eating. Those foods are very calorie dense. I didn't cut them out completely but I did cut back. The other thing that works for me is to just change something else like increasing cardio to burn a few more calories. If truly in deficit you must lose weight. I like to call it simple math.

By cutting, i meant cutting the portion.

As for the entry in cup or what else, sometime there isn't one in gramm. so i use what's available.

I lower the amount of calories given for exercices because i know it is over estimated.

I know the flowchart. I have it down'oadd somewhere.

As for the potatoes, pasta or rice, what else to eat!?!? I've never eaten that much veggies.

Im a meatatarien. I love meat and fish. I don't get the vegetarian thing even less the vegan thing.

    Im angry right now.

That chart has helped a lot of people...but I agree, it's over posted. But then again, a lot of these threads are started, asking the SAME. QUESTIONS.OVER.AND.OVER...so maybe we should just all start posting the flow chart lol

What makes you think you have a heavy frame? I only ask because "big boned" isn't as big a thing as people think... and you don't need extra calories for it...

Have you had a recent check up? As a woman your hormones and your thyroid levels could be also messing with all your hard work.

I will say this. If you are entering your activity, this may be the culprit as MFP "rewards" activity with more calories to eat. If I ever enter my activity I make sure to stick to my usual 1400 calories for the day. If I add in my exercise calories I lose nothing and sometimes gain. Just a thought. It may or may not apply.

Ok one last question- What's your job like? Sedentary (desk job) or on your feet all day (like a nurse or waitress)

Also I can't see your food & exercise diary until you accept my friend request

Just taking a quick scan through your diary and you are eating back exercise calories and going over your intake limit. There are a few days with no logging and just a "quick add 2500 cals".

Nutritional labeling carries a 20% margin of error as well, so consider this in you calculations.

Bottom line you are not in a caloric deficit. Keep doing what you are doing, but stick within your daily limits.

Unless there's another way to view someone's diary on the app without being their friend? I seem to only be able to view friend's diaries- does anyone know?
