I'm no nutritionist- but low carbs equals weight loss. Period. I'm down 10 pounds in 6 weeks.3

I have been doing low carb high fat since January this year. The theory is that carbs leave you hungry sooner and fats keep you satisfied longer (thats a simplification). Also if there are no carbs to burn your body burns fat. I put my self on 1500 cals a day and have not been hungry, have had no cravings and didnt do any exercise until yesterday. I have lost 107 pounds. MY goal is to lose another 30 or so...maybe more. For me its been pretty easy. You can look anywhere you want but dietdoctor.com is an excellent site to learn about this. You can buy stuff there, BUT you dont have to and I have bought nothing. I just read and use it as a resource. There is also lowcarbisland.com and there are many LCHF folks here and groups too. Message me if i can help in any way5

you are thinking keto, once you get keto adapted then your body burns fat,but its not a magic way to lose weight, you still have to be in a deficit, the first big loss will mostly be from taking in less carbs which results in water weight loss and glycogen stores being depleted. there is keto and then there is low carb. keto is less than 50g net carbs or less per day and low carb is anything over 50 but less than 100(maybe 150 at the most) in most instances.1 -
Hey! Low carb/ high fat is easier said as "keto." We'd love to see you over at www.reddit.com/r/keto Check out the sidebar, there are some pretty amazing sources of information there to help you better understand how good eating LCHF is for you.1

LCHF has quite a range of macronutrients. A ketogenic diet is very low carb, under 50g of carbs per day with many going closer to 20-30g per day all the way down to almost zero. A LCHF can have as many as 150g of carbs per day which can be upwards of 30% of your total calories.
Protein is usually moderate in a LCHF diet. Often 20-25% but some go a bit lower, and active people may go a bit higher.
The rest of the diet is filled in with fats. Somewhere between 80-35% fat, with most being between 50 and 75%.
The diet usually cuts out food with added sugars. Most skip or severely limit foods from grains (flours and baked goods, corn, rice, oats, etc), and higher GI fruits are limited and skipped too. The bulk of the diet is usually veggies, meats, seafood, eggs, nuts and seeds, and full fat dairy.
Try the Low Carber Daily MFP group for more information.3 -

No it doesn't. Even if you are low carb, you still have to control calories in a way. Some naturally do that with low carb because fats satiated them but you can still gain weight or maintain on low carb or even Keto.
OP, not every will respond well to a specific diet, but if you want to try it, you should probably check out the low carb group that @nvmomketo recommended. From my understanding, they have a good how-to thread on getting started.2 -

It is true that fat oxidation increases on low carb and keto diets, but that is because dietary fat increase. You also have a subsequent decrease in carb oxidation. The net effect is going to be 0 essentially. And carbs vs fats in terms of satiety is not universal. It depends on the individual. Fats don't fill me, carbs do.2
