1/4 cup popcorn kernals with 2 tbls yogurt buter (bremel and brown) that is 45cal a tbls. That makes a huge bowl. You can also use Nu-Salt instead of Salt so you dont have added sodium. If you only use 2tbls kernals for a small bowl, then only 1tbls of the butter is needed.

I use this popcorn butter spray..you can find it near the popcorn. It's in a can, so it doesn't make your popcorn soggy. Plus, 0 calories. Can't beat that! I like to get creative with spices..I'll use some Italian seasoning or lemon pepper, or even a little bit of garlic or seasoned salt.

I like to use a tsp of grated Parmesan and mix a bit of Cyanne Pepper and sprinkle it over the corn :)
  • If you like things a little spicy, tobasco is gorgeous on popcorn, with a little parmesan cheese, yum!

You can put the Kernels in a lg. pot with a lid,use butter or oil,but not too much! Put the lid on and when things start popping you hold the lid and shake the pan. When the popping slows down you are done! Let it sit for a couple of minutes so you don't shoot your eye out with a pop corn kernel!
  • I like Lawry's Season Salt on my popcorn, but I was out of that one day and used fajita seasoning instead and it was really good! I also like hot sauce. I find that sometimes spicy foods curb my appetite a little.

I'm thinking of getting an air popper too. Does it actually use zero oil? or do you still have to use something? I'd like to avoid the extra calories of the oil. Where did you get your popper? Was it reasonable priced?

my parents donated the one they had to me, it looks like its from the '70s. I love it. Mine doesn't use any oil. There is a tray on the top where you can melt butter but no oil is used, infact! using oil is super bad for the machine...like there could be dangerous things...

I love popcorn, it is especially good with parm cheese and chili powder. SO delicious!

I got my air popper at Target for around $20, or maybe a bit less. It's super easy to use, though a bit loud. It really doesn't take anything but popcorn kernels.

I sometimes like to sprinkle a bit of cinnamon over mine for a different flavor.
  • If you dont have an air popper or want the added calories of the microwave packages, you can actually use just a paper bag!

I know this sounds weird but my 8 year old son read this in a book so we tried it. 1/4 cup of kernels in a regular brown paper bag, works like a charm! no calories, no mess, fresh popcorn, I use becel butter spray on my popcorn with kernels ketchup seasoning at times, or if I crave sweet 1 tsp brown sugar and a dash of cinnamon shook it the bag of hot popcorn.

    Hope this helps..........

Just put it in a brown paper bag and toss it in the microwave. I usually measure by the handful. Three handfuls in a standard lunch bag; pop for about 2:30. I usually have to microwave about 10 seconds more or less depending on the microwave. Of course, err on the lower end for the sake of not burning the popcorn.

Yes it is possible. When we go our fisrt microwave in the seventys no one knew how to use it so it came with a cookbook. Add one shot glass of kernals to a lunch paper sack and microwave for 2 - 2.5 minutes. Each bag will be different so stand close to listen to the popping when popping slows stop the microwave unlees you like the popcorn slightly burned. I don't mind it a litlle burned and either does my husban.

My niece likes to crumble nori/seaweed paper over her popcorn. I only eat popcorn if someone else buys it at the theatre. So I only eat it every couple months heh.
