Hi, I am new to the message board but created an account 2 months ago. I seem to have a knack for suffering in silence and yet wonder why I am not getting anywhere with my weight loss. Fear is what holds me back, to not try my hardest and I seem to lack real motivation for longer than a week!

I have been overweight since I was a teenager.. with fluctuating weights to really skinny (vomit induced) to extremely heavy (sabatoge) and now I am somewhere familiar with my weight on the heavy side and the same desire to lose weight but without consistent means....

I think I am using this as my first post to just lay it out there, and maybe if I announce it and read it myself, I can come to face my weight issues. Does anyone else know what I am talking about?

I have tried numerous weightloss gimmicks, horrible eating habits to lose and gain weight, to ignoring my body and hiding from mirrors. I also did a local biggest loser compeition, lost some weight but never accepted much accomplishment and also gained the weight back ... I even tried Herbal Magic with the same results ... I LACK MOTIVATION to keep going?!!! I get highly discouraged, and I know all the prep talk, how it takes time, its a lifestyle change ,... and we have cut out bad food but slip now and then, we do not follow a clean eating type menu but its hard feeding 3 kids, 2 teenagers (that I take care od) and my husband and myself.

I am really great at finding excuses why I fell off the wagon, or why I slipped. And I am pretty sure that my biggest issue is overeating at meals .. inbetween not eating, and not drinking enough water.

I lack real motivation to work out, but I love my yoga class ... so I guess my main problem is I am tired of trying so hard and tored of being impatient and using that as an excuse to quit and I am tired of fighting with myself over food.

Oprah says you need to have a relationship with your food ... but I hate food!! I hate what it means, I hate what it does to you, I hate how I feel when I eat it ... am I alone?

So I have decided to try this Fitness Pal in hopes that I can learn to be consistent, and try to get a grip on better quantitive food choices. And maybe if I journal my feelings now and then, perhaps I will learn not to eat them!

Wish me luck!!

Wow, that is quite an intro post; I can relate to much of the expressed sentiment. I wish you much luck in taking control of your eating habits and making changes for the better. Tracking your food intake is a good way to help control what you are eating and to make good choices. I haven't been on MFP for very long, but I really see the usefullness of this online tool.
