Where do I store my keys when running outside?

Hi my name is Micah and I am a newbie runner who apparently hasn't figured this out.
So I normally just put the keys in my pocket when I am walking and have no fear of them flopping out. When I start jogging I get completely paranoid so I end up holding them in my hand the whole time I'm jogging.
Please put this moron in his place.
Thanks I'll hang up and listen to your answer.

Flip Belt. Even has a clip to make sure your keys don't slip out. Love mine!1

shoe laces. I guess that would work best for one key.0

I love shorts or crops with built in zipper pockets. I am a lululemon addict, but I really do love all the zip pocket options in their shorts... even enough room for my cell phone. I like to keep my license/ID and health insurance card on me.I also have used a running belt like this one.

Do you have somebody at home to buzz you in? Can you hook the buzzer up to your phone and buzz yourself in? What about breaking a window?
If not, it's pretty cheap to make a copy of a single key. Then at least you don't have to bring your whole ring with you.1 -
I safety pin my key ring to the inside of my pocket or waistband.2

I have a water bottle that contains a small zipper pouch (Nathan brand) that fits around my hand like a glove kinda. If I'm coming and going from home, I have a key (spare house key) that goes in the pouch. If I drove to a park and I'm coming and going from my car, I have a spare car key (house key gets hidden out of view and locked in the car) to go in that same pouch.
I also have an armband holster for my phone, and that has a key slot. With my prior car, I would use that for the car key sometimes. It doesn't hold my new car key because it is just a remote and not shaped like a key. The house key might be a bit small for that and I do worry it will fall out.
ETA: This is the bottle I'm talking about:

buy some shorts with a zip pocket? Or tie it into the drawstring on your shorts/tracksuit bottoms?1

Flip belt or buy shorts with a pocket. I want to also get some form of ID tag as when I'm off running in the woods I want the person who finds my body to be able to tell my folks!1

You should either edit your previous post with a pic of the key to delete the pic or ask for the post to be deleted.
With current technology, people can digitize that pic and make a duplicate key. Since MFP posts are public, a hacker could find this pic.
Tip: never post a pic of your keys on the internet.6 -

I do this and it works. Just make sure it's double tied. I nearly lost a key because the single tie came loose while running....0 -

I use RoadID. I've been able to load a lot of information for first responders and even have uploaded a copy of my Living Will and Medical Power of Attorney in case I'm incapacitated. Fortunately I've never needed to use it, but it will help responders a whole lot if I ever do need it.0 -
Small fanny pack.1

There's all sorts of styles of running belts that will hold your iPod, keys, etc. They are like small fanny packs0

Tuck the loops under the laces they don't come undone.0 -
I have the off brand of the flip belt...I got it on Amazon for $1 in exchange for a review, but even without the reviewer discount, it's cheaper than the brand name and works just as well. I can wear it under or over my shirt, which is nice.0

i like biking shirts that have the deep pockets built in on the back0 -
OK so you shouldn't have to carry multiple keys. One should do it, a car key or house key depending on where you run from.
So you can get a wristlet that fastens on your wrist with a zipper pocket. You can lace your key through the bow on your shoes. You can get zipper posckets on shirts, vests, pants shorts. Some shorts or pants have an interior key pocket off the waistband-or you could sew one in there.2 -
I have one of these and I love it:

I put my cell phone in it, my gps (I have a bike one so no arm band), a poop bag and dog treats.1 -
I run from home and leave my door unlocked. The dog takes guard duty pretty seriously.2

but seriously zipper pockets. My van has a remote key but a backup door key inside of it which can be copied and carried with me I would just hide my keys inside the vehicle somewhere and just lock them in.0

Hmm I don't know how well my key would work towards my shoe laces. I just did a quick trial on my draw string..does the trick but a lot of banging going on down there if you know what I mean. I'm thinking that wrist thing would drive me bonkers as well.
I'll probably look into getting the zipper shorts or the flip belt thingy.
Appreciate all the feed back!0 -
I mostly leave my key at home because my honey is likely to be there when I get back, and we have a combination-lock spare key outside the door.
This is my favorite jacket for most activities. Notice the shoulder pocket, with zipper. A single key lays flat like it isn't there. This is great for my car key when I drive my bike somewhere.

I hide mine in the coil type thing above my left front tire of my car. I drive to the lake to do my runs. I pretend I am checking out my tire if anyone is around and then slip it up there. Or the curve of your bumper.
I also have a house key hidden at home in a special spot.0 -

Take off just the key that opens the door to start.0
-
I have my house key attached to the rest of my key ring with a small carabiner clip so it's easy to pull my house key on and off the ring. I have an armband for my phone that includes a small pocket for a key, which fits my house key perfectly. (I found out a few weeks ago at a 5k that the pocket does not fit my car key, but I sort of just stuffed it behind my phone and it worked well).0

Zip pocket or belt for car key. Outside door, police approved key safe for front door so I don't have to carry one at home, and saves kids carrying keys if I'm out for a run and they come home. Had to change the locks too many times for forgetful teenagers, so now they share the one key. Major benefit for keyless running too.0
