I just started this a few days ago when I got the app for my phone to track calories, etc. I love the app so I thought I would check out the site. Everyone is so supportive. I had spinal fusion surgery about 3 years ago, which make most exercises impossible. Now I'm ready to lose some weight and hope to ease some pain in the process. So, I started walking today and so far I am not in too much pain. Was hoping maybe someone out there might know of any other low impact exercises that I could possibly try.

you might want to try some sort of water exercises in a pool, or perhaps a recumbent stationary bike. Those quite likely will be less impact on you. This is just a suggestion though, you should probably go to your dr and see what they suggest. Good luck!

that's a good idea MsNiss...maybe ask a personal trainer or your doctor what they think would be awesome ways to work out, but I know that aquafit is definitly a good idea

Try Aqua! I teach Aqua (aka Water Aerobics) and it is really great for someone like you. There are all sorts of different classes - shallow water, aqua flex, deep water. It is perfect for you because the water takes roughly 40% of your body weight of you so everything is much lower impact. I actually started taking Aqua because I broke my tailbone and I could barely even walk because I could feel every heel strike up through my lower back. I couldn't do everything at the beginning (all jumping moves were out) but I slowly got stronger and stronger and now I teach classes 6 days a week.

A deep water class would be really great for you. No impact at all and you don't need to know how to swim (you wear flotation belts). Feel free to friend me and message me if you want any more information.

Whatever you end up doing it is really great that you have started doing SOMETHING. Keep it up!

Get in the water. It is the lowest impact you are going to find. Good luck. I feel for you. My husband's back has been ruined for years, he is just simply refusing to have anything fused though. He has his nerves burnt every 6 to 8 months to ease his pain. I am so sorry for your pain.
