No Gym Resistance Training Suggestions?

I'm considering ditching my gym membership because I never seem to get to class on time. Looking for some alternatives that I can do at home, within a limited amount of space and not a bunch of handweights or kettleballs etc (limited storage space). Resistance bands? Boxes for plyos? I need some suggestions. Thanks!

In your case, I'd think a bodyweight program - such as "You Are Your Own Gym" or "Convict Conditioning" - would be a good idea. I'd probably rank YAYOG above CC, but either should be fine.

Yes! Something like that sounds perfect! Thanks, I'll point myself in that direction :)

I would suggest some TRX straps. You can definitely blast your entire body on TRX. There are so many variations to make it more challenging. Also, rubber bands. You can also do a variety of isolated exercises on rubber bands and it gives you a solid concentric and eccentric workout. I would also suggest two sets of kettle bells. Kettle bells also have a variety of exercises like Goblet squats which is a great way to develop perfect form for squats. Once you feel like all that is too easy I would suggest going back to the gym and doing your own resistance training.

Bodyweight exercises are fine to include, but they're limited. You can vastly open up your options with a pair of adjustable dumbbells, and a good resistance band kit that is door-mountable.

If you need more help, state your goals. :+1:

Goals are just cross-training. I run, but I run better when I cross-train and my preferred cross-training is weights (or similar). My house is really old, so there's no way I'm going to mount something to the door, but I'd love a suggestion for resistance bands (my amazon.com search turned up a zillion options).

YouTube is your friend here. There are TONS of channels devoted to working out at home with minimal equipment and/or bodyweight exercises.

The kits i'm talking about don't harm the door. Good ones are Bodylastics

    and Black Mountain:

Adjustable dumbbells will let you do basics like squats and lunges. The weight depends on your strength, but probably at least 25 lbs. each hand.
