21 day NO BINGE Challenge-Kristyo25

Hey everybody! Hope you had a great day! My day is pretty much over and it was not so great. I'm on vacation so I had a lot of "snacky" moments today, but I did NOT have one of my binges, so I'm still on track for this challenge:) Today I had a goal to not constantly think about food and weight and I realized that this will take some time. I find that when I obsess about food, what I CAN eat (which is anything in moderation...duh Kristy), and weight, all this "thinking" leads to binging. But it's not so easy to turn this thinking off, is it??? So today while I was "thinking" I thought about the moment I reached my "happy" weight and succeeded in weight loss, which was about 4 years ago. How was that time different from now??? AND THE ANSWER CAME ON LITERALLY LIKE A LIGHT...I DID NOT OBSESS! Honestly, I didn't even think about it. I WAS following the WW momentum program, but not attending meetings because my mom and I did it together and we supported each other. I wrote my points down in a little notebook when I ate something and I moved on. Granted life was really busy during this time...I was taking summer classes to finish my degree, I graduated in July and got my first teaching job starting in August. Life was busy, but life is busy now too. I still teach and this year I have advanced placement classes so it will be even more busy. Anyway, here was the difference in that time and now. I DIDN'T OBSESS OVER THE SCALE. I weighed myself every once and a while and literally I got on the scale one day and it read 158...and I was like WHAT?!? When did that happen??? And then I one day is said 155...my happy place! So I made a decision today...I am going to revert back to my "writing down the points in my notebook" ways and truly make WW my lifestyle. I've had success on it before, I can make it my life. However, I WILL NOT obsess over it. I will still be here everyday for this challenge checking in and I vow to myself and here that I will NEVER binge eat again because I will not make food my comfort and I will not obsess over this anymore! I know I can do this and before I know it I'll hop on that scale and 15-20 pounds will have magically melted away I just want my normal relationship with food back! I would love to have your support on this and hear your thought!
So how was your day??? Did you have some type of "epiphany" like me? Do you find yourself obsessing about food and weight all the time??? If so, we CAN overcome this unhealthy type of thinking toward food.
Hope you had a great day! Please share your successes, trials, obstacles, tips, etc. I LOVE reading your post and find them extremely helpful!

I was a little more 'snacky' today also, but not a binge. I've paid attention to what I'm eating and how much. So far, so good for the 21 day challenge.
Thanks for the post, and congratulations on your new-found clarity!0 -
Pretty good day so far. It really helps being at work though because there's only the food that is there, it's not like I can start eating paper if I lose it!0

Hey a fellow teacher too!
This post was very inspirational...I should do the same thing, as I get obsessed with the scale and it directly affects how I feel and my actions at times. One of my friends on here, has non scale related goals with rewards and I decided to do the same thing and hope it works. I still have signed up for a few challenges that require me to weigh in once/week and hope this doesn't affect me too much, if it does, I wil quit the challenges!
Today was great for me, another clean eating day and high calorie burn. I had alot of stress from a group project I was working on and took it out on the arc trainer. At the end of the day, all is well!0 -
Kristy, this challenge is so helpful because I think we are all looking at what we are doing. Your thoughts and story are most helpful. I think it 's all about making this 'A' part of our life, Not our Life. Yesterday was good for me. Remember its now tomorrow here. I met with a fellow MFPer who has moved into my area. It was so lovely to meet her and we even ate out and stayed within our calories.
We only ever want to be with our good nice friends and we avoid the people who are not not so nice, or who annoy us if we can, maybe thats how our relationship with food should be. You wouldn't knowingly hang out with a criminal (chocolate, cream donuts) but you would be happy to go to lunch with the church leader, (wholegrains, salad, and vegie). Only have your good food friends today.0 -
I've done really good, considering the fact that I work in a kitchen and am around really fattening foods all day! Thank you for being an inspiration to all of us!!!0

Today was a little more difficult than the last two. I have a really large bag of M&Ms in my pantry that have been calling my name all day. I decided to not sit on the couch and just consume the entire bag, instead I measured out a serving. After I put them on my scale and saw what a serving looks like I decided to put them back in the bag. A serving of M&Ms is too small and really not worth the 220 calories. I felt good that I didn't eat them, however I'm still hearing them calling. Hopefully I can learn to drown out the sound somehow.0

That shows real strength. Well done. You are a winner. I know people will say you shouldn't even have them in your house
but lets be honest we all do and its so much easier to resist when not there, this is your strength building. Next step, measure out a serve for your children and not pop one in your mouth. I think its also good for children to see that they can have things in moderation.0
