I am planning on swimming when I get off work tonight. Unfortunately, I left my book at home about my Polar FT4. Does anyone know if it is okay to wear the strap with the part that snaps on in the water????

I do not think it is ok. I will look for my book and post again if I find it.

I'm sure it's okay. I just bought one from Amazon (it's not here yet) and in reading the reviews many people talked about swimming with it. One person had been swimming with it for 5 years. Some people said they have a hard time getting a reading sometimes in the pool, but I don't think it will damage your device in any way.

Yes its ok. I wear mine during water aerobics just don't push any of the buttons while you are in the water so set it before you get in the water and then stop it when you get out.

I think they are water resistant - - meaning they can resist water only for shorter periods without damage
I don't think they are really water proof - meaning they are made to be in water.

From what i've researched about it - most people who try to use them in the water don't damage them but can't get a reading either! Hope this helps! :)

I have that HRM and yes it's safe to wear swimming. It won't work in salt water though.
