Does anyone else use a dial scale?

I weighed myself this morning on a dial scale and it looks like I've lost 1 lb. I got off and on several times just to double check.

Of course the cynical side of me is like "well maybe you didn't, it's not as accurate as a digital scale"

What do we think?

It might be as accurate or even more accurate. The accuracy has nothing to do with being digital or not. Just the precision is worse. Don't confuse the two. The fact that a digital shows you 185.2 (precision) doesn't mean it is not off by 2lbs (accuracy).

My dial scale is a lot more accurate than my digital scale. No, it is not as precise (I don't know if I weigh 138.2 or 138.something else) but it is consistent. According to the digital scale, I lost 6 lbs. overnight yesterday. My weight was the same as always on the dial scale.

I use a digital scale simply because it is easier for me to read the display. I used a dial scale for years, but as I get older my already not great eyesight gets worse. I would just try to consistently use the same scale and you will see if you are losing. I'm sure that some scales are more accurate than others but at the end of the day consistency is more important than accuracy. If your scales shows that you have lost X amount of weight it doesn't really matter if it is off by half a pound or even 2 pounds. You still lost X amount if weight.

I had a weight Watchers scale a while back that had half a dozen different features. But, every single time I stepped on it it would give me a new number. Wide swing of weights. Got a Salter dial scale and it is very accurate.

I had a Taylor digital scale but ditched it because it was wildly unreliable, displaying differences of as much as 25 lbs. a day or just error messages. I returned it 3 times before throwing the last one out. Now, I use a Sunbeam dial scale like you'd see at your grandma's. I just make sure it's zero'd properly before weighing. I also use the balance beam scale at the gym when I go there (which is about every 2-3 days). The numbers on both scales are usually within a 1 lb. or 2 of each other.

I keep one in the closet for when the zombies come and batteries are hard to get.
