Hi! I'm joining the military just wondered if people had any tips I go to the gym every day and still not seeing any progress apart from my run time is getting faster!

Run time, push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups are the only things you really need to worry about. I did the 30 Day Shred before shipping out and I was fine. Push-ups, though, the only thing that made those better was doing as many as I could every day.2

If your run time is getting faster, you are improving. What exactly is your goal? Do you need to lose weight, gain weight or just improve for the basic fitness test?0

My son is active duty USMC. I remember him telling me they do lots of running and lots of pull ups and other calisthenics in basic training.
Talk to a recruiter and ask them what they recommend.0 -

Im preparing to be enlist as well, my recruiter keeps telling to focus on runing and calisthenics. Currently 250, ideal weight is 189. Good luck!!0

UK or other Armed Forces as they all do different types of fitness and also dependant on what unit you want to join. I spent 12 years as a Combat Medic in Britiah Armed Forces and both my son in laws are in the Royal Artillery so i may have an idea of what you need to do.0

First of all congratulations on your commitment to serve. You are stepping into a larger world and entering into fellowship like no other. Your fitness level will also help with your advancement and your status in the organization, so you want to push for outstanding marks.
Talk with your recruiter and find the no BS guy who will tell you exactly what to expect in boot camp and after.
Running, swimming, pushups, situps, pullups are the exercises you are going to be measured by, so focus on these or any other complimentary exercises.
