HOW MUCH FAT AM I SUPPOSED TO BE EATING???????????

You can read my food diary if you want. Im trying to lose about 30 pounds of fat. I dont know much about percentages of this or that, all I really know is that I should have about 140 grams protein (i think) and low carb consumption. Apparently I ate 40 grams of fat today without even realizing it.....is that too much? Maybe you can send me a link or something, thanks.

No that is fine on the fat. It is low compared to your carbs and protein.0

Hmmm I just looked at your diary and your goal for the day was 19...that seems very low. I did exercise today, but my goal was 81 and I ate 55. When I don't work out my goal is 58. I wonder why yours is so low? I have more weight to lose than you so I'm sure that's a factor, but 19 seems pretty low. What settings did you put in when you set your goals?0

An average is 30% of your calories should be from fat (10% saturated fats and 20% unsaturated) . I have mine set to 25% of my calories and I didn't even come close.0

Most of your fat is good fat coming from olive and fish oil, so you should be fine.0

fat doesnt make you fat. its not so bad as long as you are eating the healthy fats that lower your cholesterol and are heart healthy.
you should only be consuming 30-35 percent of your calories from fat.
50 % carbs and 15-20% protein according to the USDA guidelines.

Most people that I've talked to/ magazines that I've read call for 20% of your daily calories to come from fat and 40% to come from carbs and protein each (80% total between the two).
For a 2,000 calorie diet this works out to 400 calories from fat, or 44.4 grams (9 calories per gram of fat). So you are in the neighborhood.
Just keep tracking your meals each day and you will eventually be able to eat the proper amount without much effort. Not that you seem to have a problem with it now!0 -
I did do the custom settings. I want to make sure I eat enough protein, I figured 113 grams of protein wasnt enough so I changed it. They all change on your own when you make an adjustment to just one of them. I figured higher protein percentage was better than a higher fat percentage but I know I need fat, i'll have to figure out something.0

You can't have a low carb, low fat diet. Protein has specific uses in the body that are not energetic. Getting your energy from protein is inefficient and hard on the kidneys. You need to get energy, either from fat, or from carbs depending on your tastes, your personal metabolic reactions to them and so on (although most people will have some of both). You also need a ceirtain (small) amount of essential fatty acids from fats on top of the fats for energy.
You should really be working out the specific number of grams of protein your body needs (depending on, are you growing, do you want more muscles, are you working out etc - an adult who sits around all day doesn' need much at all, other people need more). Then the rest of your calories should come from fat or carbs depending on whether you want low fat or low carb diet, and don't worry so much about "omg fat is bad" because when it comes down to it even if fat were bad (and evidence is more and more on the "its not" side), people's triglycerides decrease on high fat diets when they lose weight anyway.0
