Alway had a weight problem, some people do! Been dieting for years and it used to be easy to lose weight, not so easy now. Remembered that a long time ago I lost quite a bit of weight by counting calories, so looked for help on the net and found you. Had to adjust my details today as yesterday I did it wrong, I already feel confident that this is going to work. All the diets I have been following recently have been hard work and I have been getting nowhere. By the way I am 72years old but still fit (touch wood) my exercising will have to be walking which I do most days, briskly for 15mins. Well here goes, I'll see how I get on.

Welcome Pat!! We can all stand to be healthier, at any age. I work in a field where I meet many folks over 70 and am constantly amazed at the vim and vigor of the majority of them! The ones that golf or go to the gym in their condo complexes are the ones who's minds are also healthy!

    Good luck to you! :flowerforyou:

Hi Pat, and welcome to THE best site on the web!
Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it!
I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off!
Also, drink lots of water, that seems to help alot too. :drinker:
Gotta warn you of one thing. This site is very addicting!

    Patgab,

If you haven't already, check out the Golden Sneakers thread. It's mainly comprised of seniors like you and me (I'm 64 years old) and have battled weight problems for years. I had two total knee replacements a few years ago and although they are doing o.k. (although they will never be 100%), I am now dealing with hip issues. I try to do my treadmill a few times a week but can only manage 15 minutes each time at a slow pace - it's a real strain on the hips. I've switched to my recumbent stationary bike now and can pretty easily do 20 minutes to 1/2 hour. I HATE to exercise and I've only lost 3 pounds in about 3 weeks and I know I need to be more diligent at exercising. I get discouraged some days but somehow I'm staying exciting about this website and staying on a reasonable program. Good luck to you....
