If you had told me 8 weeks ago that this 200+ lb out of shape woman would be running 5k without stopping I would have laughed. Day one it was such a struggle to run 1 minute, walk a minute and a half 6 times. I almost gave up that day.
Thanks to my very athletic 13 year old daughter and personal motivator I pushed through. She ran every run with me and cried with me when I ran 5k Thursday and today when we pushed it to 5.2k!
8 weeks, 92.5 kilometres, 22hrs and 8 minutes!
I am also down over 15 lbs!

So we used the app called the 5k runner and see they have a 5 to 10k version. Has anyone done it?? I want to keep 5k for a couple of weeks to maintain then try to do this program. Any reviews?

Congratulations! I say go for it. I tried the 10k version, but eventually I just started running on my own without it. I have done several of the free training plans on Runkeeper, though--they've worked nicely to help me build speed and train for longer distances.

I did! And I ran 6 miles this morning, so it definitely worked for me!

Awesome, and even more awesome that you are setting new goals. Thats the key to everything.

Sensible way to go is keep doing 5k twice a week and a long run.

Add another 500m - 1k to your long run every week

    10k in 5 - 10 weeks - just go slow
