Does anyone know if I have to be wearing the wrist part of my HRM for it to work (yes, I have the chest strap)?
Thanks!

I am getting mine today so I am also curious how to use it before reading instructions.0 -
Or in the area so it can pick up the signal....ie on the treadmill or where ever, as long as its near...0

Yes, I believe you have to wear the wrist part. It is what receives, calculates, and stores the information.
I currently have a "beautiful" tan line from wearing mine!!0 -

Ditto. The heart rate is picked up in the strap doohicky and transmitted to the watch for calculation ~ at least that's how mine is.0 -
The exercise equipment I use at the gym always has more calories burned than my HRM. So, IU go by my HRM (chest strap and wrist watch). I would suggest to use them together. I feel that my HRM is more accurate than the gym equipment.0

Generally the receiver (the watch) needs to be within 2-3 feet of the transmitter (chest strap) in order for the watch to get a reading (ie, in order for it to work). I wouldn't risk it losing the signal while on the treadmill or something by placing it on the treadmill. It's not uncomfortable on the wrist, just wear it loose :-)0

I guess I'm worried about getting it wet. The user manual says it's "suitable for swimming and bathing" and I was wondering how durable it is in the water.0
