Hi
I'd be grateful for any thoughts.
In the past two/three weeks I've started to gain weight. I've been quite stressed which hasn't helped me control what I'm eating but I'm not sure I've overveaten to put on 4-5lbs. It's made me feel down which makes me want to eat(!). I've been quite constipated too which also hasn't helped. I'm not quite sure what to do to reset things and not feel like I'm destined to be a porker.

Most likely it's a combination of extra calories, water weight (especially if you've consumed more sodium or carbs than normal), and waste in your system. Just get back to counting calories and sticking to your deficit.1

If you haven't been to the "loo", most of that weight will be "poo"
Two bits of unsolicited advice here - don't think of yourself as a "porker" (whatever that means); you need food, but not too much - the stress urges you to eat too much, but you are in control of what you eat - reduce the stress and controlling your intake will be easier. Don't play with the idea of "resetting" anything (unless that's just a relaxed trip to the bathroom). Your weight goes back to normal when your behavior goes back to normal.1 -
Thank you all for your help0

If you're constipated, try a laxative...that might speed things along. I know it does for me, if I've gone 3 or more days without a bowel movement and the scale starts moving up.0

I've just been to the doctor and they've prescribed some. Hope they work! I'm also hoping the weight loss will start again and I'll feel less sad about it all!0

I relate here - I've been off work the last 2 weeks and have been on holiday in France- I was so worried getting back on the scales and put on 2 lbs! But my official holiday is over tomorrow and I'm back to work, although it's not nice to go back I know I won't be eating out every day! We just have to get back on track and what's really helped me is in the beginning my mind set was 'I will loose my weight and then I can eat crap again and not be deprived' but I began to realize it's not what I ate but how much and I'll still enjoy a McDonald's here and there but instead of getting 2 meals and large everything I'll stick within my calorie limit and I feel so much better these days and don't feel guilty eating these things anymore, I think it's about realising this is not a quick fix but a lifestyle and slipping is bound to happen at some point in our lives! Just stick with it and realise you aren't alone xx2
