Hi, I was home schooled for my high school years and this up coming school year I am taking on the challenge of schooling my 12 yr old brother. We will be using Gateway Christian Schools and Accelerated Christian Education PACES as curriculum. I have to speak in detail with other guardians that are experienced (at least 2 years) in Christian home schooling! And the info I have to have after getting your ideas and your advice is First & Last Name, City, State, Zip & Phone Number. The only thing the info is used for is the base school will contact you to verify that you have at least 2 years experience. Thanks in advance!

Just a question, where do you live? I have never heard anything like this. Is it required by your state? Don't mean to be nosey, just never heard of such a request. Pretty easy here in Ohio.

I have a friend who homeschools through a Christian program and she didn't have to do such a thing.

That does sound a little crazy! In Ohio, we have 3 different options and all of them are pretty easy and non intrusive. Hope it goes well for you!

That seems to be a very strange requirement for enrollment in their program! I'm in WA state and we have very easy rules about homeschooling. It gives us lots of freedom to school as we see fit. Is this a state requirement where you are or is it just an intrusive requirement from the school itself? I'm not comfortable giving out all my contact information to someone I don't know on the internet and others may feel the same. You might want to look around for a local support group so you can talk with people in person. You may also want to look into speaking with people who've done the program you're doing and see how they liked it, what the pros and cons were, etc. Good luck to you. Homeschooling can be wonderful for both teacher and student but there are many challenges as well. You'll both grow as a person through this experience.

I live in Tennessee (school is based out of Memphis, TN) and according to all the paper work we had to fill out it is a requirement. I don't remember my mother having to do this when she home schooled me but now they are asking for this info. The papers read that required by state law for any parent or guardian who has not used the same school program for more than 2 years. My opinion is that if you have done it before and if you feel led by God and your faith then that should be enough. I have all other requirements so I just don't know what to do.
