Binge eating

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this discussion, but here goes nuthin...
My problem since my teens is my unhealthy relationship with food. For the past 15 years or so I've tried to control food, but I find it controls me much of the time. I'm currently on a healthy eating trend with a goal of losing weight and getting more fit (I'm in my late 50s). I've been on these healthy kicks many times in the past, but one day I'll cave and have a cupcake or sundae or donut and I go right back to binge eating, hiding food and wrappers and hating myself.
I don't know how to get food out of my head and treat it differently. There are days when all I think about is my next snack or meal. I know I have a certain amount of depression and it feels like I'm trying to soothe myself with food.
Am I the only one that feels like this?

I love food and I have found the best way to keep from bingeing is to allow myself to have a cupcake every now and then and fit it within my calorie goal. Of course, you are going to want it if you are saying NO I CAN NEVER HAVE YOU AGAIN. allow yourself half a cupcake or half a donut or even a whole one as long as it isn't a constant thing.0

I could have written this myself. It really is awful. I have also been struggling since around age 10-11.. I'm 26 now and it still feels like such a huge issue. Today is yet again another day one of no binging.. hopefully I make it through...0

I deal with the same problem. I eat very healthy for the most part, and then I get depressed and eat a whole bag of Cheetos like snacks from the health food store, or get ice cream while I'm out so my boyfriend doesn't see.0

I'm all for eating healthy but I am wondering if your health kicks are too restrictive? I have found in the past to restrict treats makes me crave them in an unhealthy way.
I am on a deficit atm and understand that some days will be easier than others. If on a troublesome day I may somewhat binge eat and I make sure I pick myself up again and not let it define me.
To me healthy eating involves the odd treat. I will not beat myself up when I fancy something "unhealthy".
Depressive episodes involve much more than just food and I hope you are getting support.
Just realise that you are worth it.

I can't eat just one. If I'm going to have a cupcake (for an amazing bakery that won on Cupcake Wars), I have to buy two. At least. Sometimes I'll eat two there then bring four home, two for me and two for my husband. He'll see them and tell me he only wants one, so I get the other one. If I buy popcorn at the theater I have to have butter and it has to be a large popcorn, never medium or small. There are no "treats." It's all or nothing. Wait...I can do the "treat" thing for a month or two, then I break down and binge again. It's been a cycle for quite some time now.
It's all a head game with me and I don't expect everyone to understand it. I'm just hoping there are some that do.1 -

When I was in my late teens I worked in a donut shop. I'd take the hot donuts off the rack and hide them in the employees restroom until I could get back there and eat them. I probably ate half a dozen donuts a day while hiding in the bathroom.0
