success with low caloric intake?

I have multiple medical conditions that make losing weight VERY difficult--almost impossible (I say "almost" because I believe that I can do this!). I've been following the MFP recommendation for 1 lb lose per week, which had me at 1530 calories. I want to reach my goal sooner AND because I didn't lose this past month, I gained...I lowered it to 1200.

What are your thoughts on this low calorie goal? I know I can't go any lower or my body will go into starvation mode. I do intense workouts like Turbo Fire and ChaLEAN Extreme, so I burn anywhere from 400-800 calories, depending on the workout I do that day so I'm "eating back" those calories to get to 1200 net calories.

I use a HRM so I keep my calories burned with exercise as accurate as possible. I'm not on any special diet--just try to make healthy choices and watch my sugar and sodium intake. I'm usually under on my carbs.

Appreciate any feedback and feel free to add me as a friend. I'm a fitness coach but it's easier to help others than know what's best for myself sometimes and just need your thoughts for added assurrance. I think I'm best to zig zag from month to month and just see how things go. When I gained pounds, I didn't lose/gain any inches.

weather you lower your caloric intake or not, the most important thing is that you eat them in several meals per day. It takes 6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism active and burning. If you only have relatively 1 or 2 large meals per day, your system will go on starvation mode and save everything you eat.
  • Thanks! Yes, I'm doing that. I eat at least 4 times per day but shoot for 5.
