Anyone use one? Do you like it? has it actually helped you lose weight? I have the opportunity to use one for a project I'm working on for work and am excited about it but also hope it will help me lose weight (although I need to get back on the hard core calorie counting bandwagon since I seem to fall off the wagon on weekends).... (I know I need to do better!)

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Well, either way I'm getting one through work, so I'll keep you posted once I get it and start using it! :)

You might want to check out earndit.com . Fitbit is one of the services they auto-grab info from. It gives you points for working out, which you can trade for coupons or raffle entries for free stuff. It has a monthly leaderboard which adds an element of competition to stay active. (It makes me tempted to hike an extra mile or two every day so I can keep/improve my standing). (I use runkeeper with it).

I have a FitBit and I love it! I got it for Christmas, but didn't really start using it until May of this year (can you say procrastinate?!?!).

I like it because it really makes me aware of activity/steps, and it challenges me personally because I can monitor my progress (or lack there of as the case may be some days).

I tend to get bummed when my steps are below the recommended 10,000 in a day, so I work at making sure to fit some exercise in each day so I get above the 10,000 steps.

I think for me it is psychological....and visual for sure.

The reason I like the FitBit is the website is free to use. I also like that it tracks my sleep patterns for me when I wear it at night (you push the button down until you see Start, then when you wake up, push down until you see Stop). This has been helpful because it makes me more aware of my need to get better sleep.

One disadvantage to the FitBit (in my opinion) is the food tracking on the website....I don't like it very much. It is hard to find foods, etc. It doesn't seem as user friendly as MFP is. Actually I like MFP much better, so what I do is keep track on FitBit of miles/steps and wear it all day/night, and then I use MFP for tracking my food and input the exercise activities I do there.

I do the same thing. I've had a Fitbit for a couple weeks not and love. I actually walk a mile to a further away subway stop to get the 10,000 steps in so it's been great.

But you're right, the food tracking on the Fitbit site is not good so I am back here for that. At the end of the day, I enter my exercise in here by looking at the miles walked on my Fitbit and entering that here. I haven't tried wearing the Fitbit for other forms of exercise like Yoga so I'll tell you all what happens then.

But overall I love the Fitbit and like that I can look at my activity compared to others and see my activity over time.

The only thing I haven't been able to get to work is the sleep feature. Apparently you wear the Fitbit in a cuff on your wrist at night and I can't sleep like that, so I tried just snapping the Fitbit on the front of my pj's. Didn't work. So I'll just go with what I know about my sleep, it sucks. :-)

So I've been using it for 2 days now and it's pretty cool. Love the visuals as you said, as far as food tracking I can't decide who is correct (MFP vs. Fitbit.... there is a 40 cal difference thus far)
I used it for sleep and I used the wrist cuff and it works awesome (you have to hit the button hold it down til it says start and then hit it again in the morning so it says stop to log properly)
