Plateaus with weight loss... Mostly for women, but maybe for

Hey everyone! I'm sure I'm not the only one who has hit a plateau before with losing weight. In fact I hit one a few months ago which really discouraged me to continue, but now I'm back and ready to do this! I LOVE to read fitness magazines and get new information on running and things of the like.
Recently I bought a magazine with an interview with Jillian Michaels. One of the questions was "What advice do women always ask for?" and her response was how to deal with plateaus! I was so happy when I read it, but she says to bump up the amount of calories you are eating by 10 percent and give yourself a couple days of rest. Essentially our body goes into survival mode (which is perfectly normal) and starts to store fat. She says by taking rest and eating a little more you can outsmart your body and it will help jump-start your metabolism again!
Just thought I would share this with everyone, because I know we have all been there and needed help! Don't give up buddies!

Thank you so much! I'm going through that right now. I'm working out so hard everyday and eating right, but the scale is moving so slow...This is so helpfulHey everyone! Been there done that. Every time I feel like im starting to get stuck I slow down on the cardio and eat a little more or change up my routine and it works every time.0

I completely agree 100%!! I've done exactly this just recently!
I was stuck at 232 for two weeks. Day in, day out I was 232 every single day. I was working out a lot, drinking all the water, eating well, yadda yadda... finally I upped my calories by 300 and stopped the cardio and in the last two days I've lost two pounds!! I began eating more on Monday. Tuesday I was 231 and this morning 230 :bigsmile:0 -

I'm thinking of bumping up my calories. In fact, I set MFP to .5 lb a week loss but I haven't had the guts (lol) to actually eat ALL the calories it allots me. It's just kinda scary! Then I know I'll debate on eating exercise calories and junk....0

It helped me! I bounced between 158 and 161 for 2 months. I ended up biting the bullet and setting MFP for a 0.5 pound/week loss and I started losing weight again!0 -
Thanks for the advice!0
