To lose weight, you need a sustained calorie deficit. To maintain weight, you need energy balance. For more in depth answers, try to be more specific?2

Calorie deficit.
Learn your maintenance when you get there...1 -
To lose: consume less energy (calories) than you require to maintain...i.e. Calories in < Calories out
To maintain: consume a balance of energy...i.e. Calories in = Calories out (more or less)1 -
I'd recommend simply eating a little less of the foods you like and exercising some until you get to where you want. Then keep eating those things you like (and exercising, if you'd like - I'd still recommend it) but eat a little more, so that your weight stays in a +/- 5 lb range.0

Start by setting up your account with MFP (setting a goal, etc.) Then log your food and exercise. After you see where you are, you can start to tweak your food (calorie) intake and maybe up your exercise a little at a time to find a plan that will work for you in the long run. You will always have to be mindful of what you eat. That's just the way it is. You will find lots of support here. Good luck!

Read everything on this site, especially the sticky posts. That's what MFP is all about.1
